

Overview
Valhalla Westchester College's has a specifically designed US-based Curriculum for students wishing to pursue their medical profession in the United States and Canada. Meeting the minimum educational or pre-medical requirements is considered important to the students' success in the academic program. Please note, all courses at VWMC are taught in English.
Valhalla Westchester College accepts transfer students wishing to enter any of our Program Stages. Applications for transfer will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Requirements may vary depending on the prospective transfer student’s Program Stage. In selecting applicants for admission, Valhalla Westchester College, Faculty of Medicine will scrutinize applicants’ motivation, intellect, and other character traits essential to becoming a physician.
Consideration will also be given to special features of background and experience which may contribute to a candidate’s potential success in the medical field. Applicants should give evidence of their capacity to deal effectively with other people. They must also be able to organize their activities, set priorities, accept responsibility, and function well under stress.
Our Admissions committee will compile all of the required documentation and information gathered during the admissions process. Once all the information has been received, the Admissions Department will schedule an interview with the prospective student. The candidate will then receive a final decision from Valhalla Westchester College, Faculty of Medicine.
Students transferring from another medical school may be required to take a comprehensive entrance exam. The purpose of the exam is to determine the appropriate placement for each student.
Unofficial transcripts and/or grade reports will be acceptable for initial evaluation, pending receipt of the official transcript. There is a $100 fee for the entrance exam. There is no pass or fail on this exam, and the exam cannot be retaken. In order to obtain credit from Valhalla Westchester College, the student must score a 70% or higher and provide an official transcript by the end of the student’s first semester at VWMC, proving that the course was taken in its entirety at the previous institute(s) attended by the student. Students cannot progress to the next semester until this process is complete. The requirement to take the entrance exam will be evaluated on an individual basis by the Office of the Dean. It is recommended that students review the course material from their original institution in order to prepare for this exam. Any student who may be required to take this exam will be notified by the Academic Committee as soon as possible after the Admissions Committee makes its recommendations. This will generally be within 48 hours.

- $75.00 non-refundable processing fee is required.
- Official Sealed Transcripts
- High School (Pre-med students only)
- University or College (Basic Science)
- MCAT Score (US & Canadian Students), if applicable
- The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) is recommended for all applicants to the Faculty of Medicine. Though not required, a student who has sat for the MCAT examination should arrange for the testing agency to submit the official score report to the North American Administrative Service Office

- Two (2) Letters of Recommendations (preferably from science professors)

Personal Interview
A personal interview (via telephone, Skype or in person, if possible) is scheduled within 5 working days of receipt of all requested documentation and payment of the application fee. This interview is an opportunity for students to express themselves and offer insight to their application, while verifying the details they have offered to the Admissions Committee.
VWMC Admission interviews are done in accordance with a standard questionnaire and evaluation template in order to ensure an equitable interview process for all applicants. We will make every effort to schedule the interview at a time that is convenient for you.
Admission Requirements for Transfer Students

Guidelines for Acceptance of Transfer Credits
Prior to enrolling in Valhalla Westchester College, some students may have successfully completed Basic Science courses at another accredited medical school or listed on WDOMS (World Directory of Medical Schools). Transfer credits may be accepted for these courses. In order to obtain credit from Valhalla Westchester College, the student must have successfully passed these course and provide an official transcript proving that the course was taken in its entirety at the previous institute(s) attended by the student. The decision to accept transfer credits will be made by the Admissions Committee, and the decision must be approved by the Dean of Academics. If the decision is made to grant the student’s transfer credits, a formal record of the decision will be sent to the student and a copy will be placed in the student’s academic file.
The student’s transcript will list the grade as Credit for the courses in which the student has received transfer credits. Grades from transfer courses will be included in the student’s overall GPA calculation.
Seat Deposit
Due to selective admission and limited enrollment, we request that upon acceptance, students secure their placement by forwarding a $1,000 check. This amount is non-refundable and will be credited toward the student’s first semester tuition.
Course Exemption Policy
Prior to enrolling in Valhalla Westchester College, some students may have successfully completed courses in biomedical sciences that are equivalent to Basic Science courses offered during the medical curriculum. The faculty and administration recognize that these students may not need to retake those courses. These students may request a course exemption. All exemptions must be authorized by the Dean of Academics.
In order to qualify for an exemption, the student must submit the following documents:
- A formal letter requesting the course exemption including the reasons why the student feels that the exemption should be
- An official transcript listing the equivalent course and the grade
- A copy of the syllabus of the previously passed
- A letter submitted by the Faculty member approving the course
If the decision is made to grant the exemption both the student and the Faculty member will be notified in writing that the course exemption has been granted. A written record of the decision will be placed in the student’s academic file. The student’s transcript will list the grade for the exempted course as a Credit. Grades from exempted courses will not be included in the student’s overall GPA calculation.
