Academic Requirement:

• New Tokyo Medical College (VWCM) has set forth minimum academic requirements and developed a list of required and recommended coursework for applicants to VWCM
• VWCM course requirements and recommendations are similar to those required by other US institutions:
  • General Biology with laboratory:
  • 2 semesters
  • General Chemistry with laboratory:
  • 2 semesters
  • Organic Chemistry with laboratory:
  • 2 semesters
  • Physics with laboratory:
  • 2 semesters
  • Mathematics:
  • 2 semesters of College Mathematics or 1 semester college math and 1 semester statistics
  • College English:
  • 2 semesters of College English
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English
• A bachelor’s (baccalaureate) degree is required for all students attending VWCM unless starts his/her medical education as 6-year MD students at the Pohnpei campus located in FM 96941.
• All coursework must be completed in a satisfactory manner in an educational institution located in the United States or Canada.
• Applicants with baccalaureate degrees from accredited non-U.S. institutions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Application Process:

• For regular admissions, the process begins at anytime since VWCM utilizes “Rolling Admission” system.
• The criteria for interview at VWCM will include the following:
  • Completion and receipt of the VWCM application
  • MCAT score is required to The minimum MCAT is 27 (with no individual scores below 8)
  • The minimum GPA is 2 (on 4.0 scale)
  • Receipt of at least two letters of recommendation
• After the applicant’s interview, the entire application file will be presented to the Admissions Committee. The Admissions Committee will then vote to determine the admission status of the applicant.

Application Timeline:

• VWCM utilizes the “Rolling Admission” MD Candidates are invited to submit their applications to the College at anytime. However, to increase the chance to get a regular admission, students are advised to apply as early as possible. VWCM will then review the application and notify the applicant of their decision within a few weeks from submission.
